Chromatin Collaborators was founded on the conviction that the scientific excellence present within HBCUs should be matched by the research infrastructure, technical resources, mentorship systems, and institutional investment required for that excellence to thrive.

HBCUs have shaped generations of Black scientists, physicians, scholars, and innovators. Yet they remain underrepresented among the country’s highest-research-activity institutions. This disparity is not a reflection of intellectual ability or scientific potential. It reflects persistent differences in access to research funding, technical personnel, computational infrastructure, protected time, graduate-program resources, and influential scientific networks.

Chromatin Collaborators works with HBCU faculty, departments, graduate programs, and research leaders to address these interconnected barriers. We support rigorous scientific projects, develop reproducible analytical systems, modernize graduate curricula, mentor emerging scientists, and help institutions strengthen the research ecosystems necessary for long-term growth.

We do not view the organizations we serve merely as clients. We regard them as collaborators and colleagues. Our engagements are built on shared responsibility, transparent expectations, scientific integrity, and a commitment to leaving durable expertise within the institution.

For us, the advancement of Black scientists and HBCU research programs is more than a commercial opportunity. It is an investment in the scientific leadership, intellectual independence, and generational progress of our communities.
